George is a very active Westie boy; and he is in great health for his age.
George is a well-balanced, young Westie! He is energetic and loves to have fun; but is equally content lounging around with you - as long as his exercise needs are met!
George thoroughly enjoys the company of the ladies; but does well with both men and women - and in large groups of people; however, small children tend to make him nervous and he has not always exhibited the best manners. An all-adult home, or a home with young adults who would understand his fear and respect his space, is required.
George loves to walk, and walks well on a leash; loves to play with toys, and will fetch balls; gets along well with other dogs - both on and off leash; and travels well in a car. He knows some basic commands, and is eager to please. At times, he can be relentless - but can be easily persuaded with a great belly rub; and he will amuse himself for hours with his bone. He loves to snuggle, and will sleep under your covers or on your pillow - if you let him! Although he might test the boundaries when it comes to your comfy furniture, he will respect them when told.
George has a history of mild skin allergies (hot spots); therefore, he will need to remain on a high-quality diet; require close monitoring to ensure hot spots do not get out of control; and regular brushing to help maintain healthy skin and coat. Grooming and bathing should be done in moderation.
If you would like to be considered to adopt George, please contact us. No phone calls, please.

George had a very good weekend; and he is adjusting to his foster family, and their two Westies, as well as can be expected in such a short amount of time! George has been in five different homes in the past year, so he is very insecure – often exhibiting bad manners (snapping) when startled or feeling threatened. We believe that patience, coupled with a measure of stability & structure, will help George overcome his insecurities and become a wonderful addition to the right family. Dog-ear this page and check back soon for an update from his foster family!

Things with George are going very well. He is a very loving Westie, and has barely left my side! But, he is warming up to the rest of the family and starting to play with both Bentley and Maggie. He has quickly settled into a routine, and seems eager to please - learning the “reward” that good behavior brings! We are working on manners - such as making him sit for his food or treat, and not letting him have it until we give the command “get it.” Although he has jumped-the-gun a couple of times, he is generally obeying. As he becomes more comfortable with us, and we with him; we see more of his personality evolve. We are delighted to have him as a house guest, and we are very optimistic that progress will continue!

George is progressing well.
He is a very loving little guy, and he craves attention! If at any given time he needs attention and you don’t notice, he will let you know with a little “woof.” If Bentley & Maggie don’t get there first, he will lay next to me on the couch so he can receive frequent petting and belly rubs. He also loves to cuddle up to me in bed, and is usually ‘spooning’ by early morning.
He loves to play, and has unloaded the toy box on more than one occasion to make sure he has discovered every “squeaky” toy therein. He also likes to steal whatever toy Bentley or Maggie are playing with in order to start a game of “come and get it.”
While I am getting ready for work in the morning, the three are often running repeatedly around the circle made from the hallway, through the master bedroom, master bath, and back to the hallway. I don’t dare step back as I might be run over! After a brief rest and drink of water, they are back to playing – usually wrestling and growling.
When the weather is nice, Bentley and Maggie spend a lot of time in the yard doing “Westie” things – like digging holes, looking for varmints in the woodpile, rolling in the sand box and playing in the kiddie pool. So far, George has not joined them in these activities; but, he is mimicking their behaviors in many other ways, so I suspect that he will soon be participating too!

George is improving his manners through consistent training, and what he sees Bentley and Maggie do. We have not experienced any snapping in two weeks – basically, since his arrival and only when startled. George has recently discovered his voice, so we are working on curving the barking; as well as welcoming visitors into the home. Progress continues.

...George is doing great! He has settled in quite quickly, and is getting along very well with the other 4-legged children...sleeping soundly all night (in our bed) with the others! He loves looking out the windows, and chasing the squirrels! He follows us around all the time, and loves to give us doggie kisses! We just love him! Thank you, thank you!

George is doing great! He fits right in, and is so playful! He still follows me around like a shadow, but is becoming more and more comfortable in his surroundings. George is usually very active; but, on the occasion when he wants to chill, he climbs on the bed upstairs and watches everything going on outside of the window. He’s a very happy contented boy, and we just love him!
